On Tuesday, 16 October 2018, the Faculty of Law, University in Belgrade signed the Agreement on Honorary Membership with NALED, with the aim of engaging eminent legal experts in the reform and legislative processes towards creating a favorable environment for doing business in Serbia. As part of the initiative for strengthening cooperation and networks with the academic community, NALED has so far welcomed the Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Organizational Sciences and the Research Institute Petnica.

Cooperation with the Faculty of Law was initiated from the very first day, with joint organization of a business seminar on the topic of Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), with the support of European Union’s Erasmus+ Program. The participants at today’s seminar had the opportunity to learn more about the institutional framework of CEFTA agreement, opportunities for free trade of goods, services and capital, payment conditions between the EU and South East Europe countries, and the right to settlement and protection of competition.

On behalf of the Faculty of Law, the participants were addressed by the Dean, prof. PhD Zoran Mirković and prof. PhD Dušan V. Popović, the Principal of Jean Monnet module. The Vice President of NALED Managing Board and General Manager of Goran Kovačević gave address on behalf of NALED, highlighting the importance of impeccable functioning of the CEFTA agreement, given that Serbia has increased the level of exports to CEFTA member countries from 2 to 3 billion euros over a period of 10 years, but its functioning still remains burdened with administrative obstacles. He also indicated that businesses lose millions of hours due to their trucks waiting on borders and pay an amount of even 800 million euros for various tasks to be performed at border crossing.
