Strategic planning

Project implementation period: 01/02/2017 – 31/01/2019

 

In early 2017, with the support of Open Society Institute (OSI TTF), NALED Executive Office initiated the strategic planning for the period 2018-2021, with the aim of better focusing the organization’s activities in line with the changes in the environment and the requirements imposed with the growing number of members and partners, and strengthening the analytics and research capacities. External consultants were engaged for this purpose, managing the strategic planning process together with NALED staff. The planning process used the Theory of Change, as a special methodology for planning and evaluation used in the non-profit and Government sector with the aim of promoting the social change.

The process was a highly participative one: all NALED members and employees had an opportunity to take part in various stages of the process. The members were first informed about the strategic planning process at the annual Assembly and had an opportunity to define the priorities in the organization’s future work. Additionally, a significant number of NALED members had a chance to present their experience of working with NALED and explain their reasons for joining the organization, within in-depth interviews with external consultants, and within focus groups conducted by IPSOS Strategic Marketing for the needs of strategic planning. Furthermore, in summer 2017, all Managing Board members held meetings with NALED members, while the Executive Office employees took part in setting the organization’s future development path through four workshops and a series of consultations. In total, more than 120 members and partners provided a contribution in defining NALED’s strategic perspective for the period 2018 – 2020.
