Grow Small - Economic growth through small business sustainability

Area: Entrepreneurship development
Donor: The British Embassy in Serbia
Period of realization: June 2021 – March 2022

The Grow Small program promotes economic development through support measures for small and micro enterprises in cooperation with the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance with the participation of partners from the private and civil sectors.

Project goals and activities

The project's aim is to improve access to Serbian entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises and increase awareness of capacities and advisory initiatives through a virtual Entrepreneurial hub (Entrepreneurial portal) and enable understanding of new reform initiatives.

  • Assessed needs and challenges in the entrepreneurship and micro-entrepreneurship sector
An analysis of the needs of entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs regarding the topics and functions that will be part of the Entrepreneurial hub will be conducted, with an emphasis on reviewing information and guidelines for easier use of e-services and other digital tools which allow the activities to be performed easier and faster.

  • Raising awareness of enterprises and micro-enterprises about the possibilities of e-services (e-commerce), enactment and implementation of new laws (e-invoices)
The project will organize a series of trainings for enterprises to facilitate understanding of certain regulations, as well as their implementation. Also, during the project, a Digital Caravan will be organized in 10 local governments that will map and provide support to small entrepreneurs in Serbia in terms of registering their business at Google maps and Google My Business to contribute to their greater visibility and opportunities for e-commerce. This action will primarily target and mobilize those entities that do not have the skills and/or knowledge to do it themselves, enabling residents or visitors who need services/products to find these businesses.

  • Virtual Entrepreneurial portal / Entrepreneurial hub
The project also envisages the launch of an interactive platform to provide constructive support to micro and small enterprises. The portal will be a hub for all useful information, as well as the exchange of information on selected topics that will be defined after the initial research. In addition, the section with the most frequently asked questions and advanced search of the portal will enable easier navigation and visibility. Registered users will be provided with access to numerous educational materials and the opportunity to launch various initiatives to improve access to information, as well as to achieve efficient and easier operation for micro and small enterprises and entrepreneurs.
