Champions of local development awarded

The winners of the second cycle of competition for cities and municipalities “Champions of local development”, organized by NALED and Serbian Broadcasting Corporation, have been awarded at the national conference held on 3 July 2018. The champion and vice-champion titles were assigned to local governments which reformed the local administration and applied new models and approaches, thus significantly improving the quality of life in the local community and the level of services provided to citizens, attracting new investments and establishing cooperation with existing businesses.

The awards and certificates were presented by Deputy Prime Minister and President of Coordination body for gender equality Zorana Mihajlović, Minister of Public Administration and Local Government Branko Ružić, President of NALED EB Dejan Đokić and the Director of Planning and Development department in Serbian Development Agency Ana Žegarac, together with the representatives of Serbian Broadcasting Agency and Association of Serbian Journalists.

In the category “Investment promotion”, the champion title was awarded to Niš and vice-champion to Vranje. The first place in the category “Business support” was assigned to  Šabac, and the second to Stara Pazova. Šabac was also the best in the category “Citizens service”, followed by Mionica. The winning solution in the category “Efficient administration” was offered by Bečej, while Vrnjačka Banja was the runner-up. In the category “Tourism and culture promotion”, the awarded champion was Kruševac, with Loznica reaching the second place.

Awards were also presented to journalists who won the competition “Local administration reform for economic development” realized by NALED and Association of Serbian Journalists with the support of Serbian Development Agency. The first place went to a journalist of daily Kurir Slavica Tomčić, the second to a journalist of RTV Kruševac Slobodanu Radičeviću, and the third to a journalist from Serbian Broadcasting Corporation RTS Tamara Tankosić.

Certificates on completed trainings were presented to 50 women, members of handicraft associations from Čačak, Leskovac, Loznica, Šabac and Sremska Mitrovica. The skills they acquired will help them in ensuring work engagement and marketing their handicrafts.
