The “Female Leader of the Year” award, presented on the occasion of National Gender Equality Day, was awarded today to NALED Executive Director Violeta Jovanović, who emphasized that leadership is both an opportunity and a responsibility, as every woman who is given the opportunity to lead should help pave the way for other women.
Speaking at the conference “Alliance for Equality”, organized as part of the National Gender Equality Day celebrations, Jovanović said that she shares this recognition with the women in her family, the women who are part of NALED, other female leaders in Serbia, as well as strong women who are transforming their communities without receiving public recognition.
“Receiving this award is a great honor. I accept it knowing that no leader achieves results alone. That is why I share it with the women in my family, with the remarkable women I work with at NALED and the Ethno Network, with women leaders in government, local communities, and business, as well as with many strong and important women and unsung heroines who change their communities every day, far from the spotlight and public attention. I also share it with the men who support us in achieving equality,” she said.
She expressed special gratitude to Minister Macura for her initiatives and cooperation, noting that the best results are achieved through partnership and a genuine commitment to ensuring that women’s voices are heard.
“Most importantly, I would like to send a message that leadership is a privilege that comes with responsibility. Every woman who is given the opportunity to lead also has an obligation to open doors for other women. Thank you for helping us open those doors together,” Jovanović concluded.
