The project "Recycling of Fractions Obtained from the Treatment of Automotive Waste – Innovative Recycling Center Mechanism in Krnješevci" aims to promote the initiative for addressing the significant issue of automotive waste accumulation in the Republic of Serbia by establishing a processing and sorting line, as well as improving the overall automotive waste management system.
Key Project Activities:
- Procurement of Basic Equipment – Panizzolo machines for establishing an air filtration system, creating the necessary capacity to launch the plant's operations. With this line in place, it will be possible to treat 80-90% of a vehicle’s components in Serbia.
- Creation of the Analysis of End-of-Life Vehicle Management in the Republic of Serbia and its dissemination to relevant stakeholders.
The analysis includes an overview of the legal framework, including accompanying economic instruments, regulating automotive waste management in the Republic of Serbia, and the degree of alignment with EU legislation.
Based on national and European legislation, available data on automotive waste quantities in Serbia, the experiences of other countries, and relevant expert and scientific literature on the management of system 5 and technological processes for processing automotive waste, the current state of the system, deficiencies, and recommendations for improvement are presented. Furthermore, a direction for the development of activities related to the collection and treatment of automotive waste is provided, along with the most economically viable option for establishing a collection network, with the goal of applying the "polluter pays" principle. This further enables investments in recycling and reduces the environmental pressure.
