The energy transition of the region starts locally: Meetings of experts from Serbia and Croatia were held

Three meetings, one common goal - the creation of energy communities that will promote the use of renewable resources in Serbia and Croatia. The Energy Efficient Communities (ENGAGE) project brought together experts, institutions and municipalities to exchange knowledge and create models that position local communities at the center of the energy transition.

At the meetings organized on March 4 in Strizivojna, March 10 in Vladislavci and June 4 in Gorjani, the members of the Expert Group - representatives of relevant ministries, electricity distributors and local governments - worked together to define the optimal concept of the energy community model.

They discussed the legal frameworks and standards that exist in Croatia and Serbia, as well as the technical needs of implementing the project's infrastructure. Special focus was on identifying good practices from countries that have already developed similar models, as well as on adapting infrastructure and regulations to local conditions, in order to enable more effective involvement of citizens in the production and use of energy from renewable sources.

The meetings of the Expert Group represent an important stage in the implementation of the Energy Efficient Communities (ENGAGE) project, which aims to develop a conceptual model and implement pilot activities for the establishment of energy communities in the cross-border region. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A IPA Program Croatia-Serbia, and is implemented in partnership with the City of Subotica, the municipalities of Strizivojna, Gorjani and Vladislavci (Croatia) and NALED.

Through joint work and intensive cooperation, project partners contribute to the development of a sustainable, energy-efficient region in which local communities play a more active role in the transition to a greener future.
