Lump Sum Taxation Month campaign launched

On Friday, 31 August, the Association for the Development of Entrepreneurship and NALED announced the launching of public campaign "Lump-sum taxpayers’ month", aimed at improving the lump-sum taxation system. The website www.jpd.rs has also been launched today, providing an opportunity for all interested parties to nominate their recommendations.

During September, all entrepreneurs, their associations, representatives of relevant institutions and the expert public will have the opportunity to offer solutions and, in dialogue with state institutions, engage in the shaping of reform which has a major importance for fostering entrepreneurship in Serbia. "Our goal is to strengthen the dialogue between the public and private sector and jointly reach the best solutions" – said Milivoje Jovanović on behalf of Association for the Development of Entrepreneurship.

"We intend to eliminate the excessive administrative obstacles by enabling payment of taxes to a single account, issuing of electronic certificate on paid taxes in real time, and a continuous right to healthcare and pension insurance" – said Jelena Bojović, NALED Policy Director. "To achieve this, we wish to implement a rform that establishes clear criteria and automated process of determining who can be a lump-sum taxpayer, and the process of issuing the decisions on the amount of tax".

The Government of Serbia is currently forming the working group for improving legislation on lump-sum taxation. Along with line institutions, NALED proposed that the Working group should also include representatives of entrepreneurs. Their engagement and responses within the campaign “Lump-sum taxpayers’ month” will be a test for the state to improve communication with the business community and their engagement in the initial phase of drafting regulations which influence their business.

The public campaign "Lump-sum taxpayers’ month" is part of a four-year Public-Private Dialogue for Growth Project financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by NALED in cooperation with the National Public Policy Secretariat.

During the public campaign, all interested parties can submit their proposals and join the dialogue on the thematic website, within round tables to be organized in Belgrade (10/09), Niš (18/09) and Novi Sad (21/09), as well as via NALED's social media pages.
