At the session of the Alliance for eGovernment held at the Microsoft Tower, the progress made in digital transformation, smart cities, and future plans for improving eGovernment in Serbia were presented. The event brought together representatives from institutions, companies, and IT experts, with the main focus on enhancing digital services at the local level.
The meeting was opened by Ivan Živković, Vice President of the Alliance for eGovernment (Microsoft), who emphasized the importance of continuous efforts in digitization and the synergy between the private and public sectors. Following this, Ana Milovanović, coordinator of the Alliance for eGovernment at NALED, presented the ongoing activities and a new project in the area of smart cities.
Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, discussed key topics of digital transformation in municipalities, highlighting the importance of infrastructure and human resources at the local level.
- Today, we have 2.5 million citizens logging into all eGovernment services. We need synergy - the office has done a lot in terms of infrastructure, but we do not have enough capacity to transfer data. The goal is to store all data in the national data center and allow local governments to fully utilize the information system, Jovanović emphasized.
He also announced that the Information Security Law is ready for adoption, and the establishment of a special office in this domain is planned by January 1, 2027.
The meeting adopted the Report on the work of the Alliance for eGovernment and presented proposals for new activities within the Action Plan for 2024–2026. Participants were encouraged to actively engage in the digitization processes and make use of existing resources to enhance the efficiency and transparency of local governments.
