StarTech Study Visit to Sweden - Participation in the UIIN Conference on Innovation Ecosystem Development

As part of the StarTech project, NALED organized the third study visit for representatives of Serbia’s innovation ecosystem, which this time took place in Sweden through participation in the international UIIN Conference 2026 in Stockholm. This year’s conference, titled “Collaborating for a Better World: From Ideas to Scaled Impact,” focused on how different innovation ecosystem stakeholders can work together to transform research and ideas into tangible innovations and broader societal impact.

The delegation included representatives of science and technology parks, the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, the Innovation Fund, as well as representatives of research organizations engaged in technology transfer and research commercialization. The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into international models of collaboration among academia, industry, and public institutions, as well as to exchange experiences on support mechanisms that enable research results to reach the market.

During the three-day conference program, participants had the opportunity to attend lectures, workshops, and discussions dedicated to the development of entrepreneurial universities, strengthening academia-industry partnerships, talent development, research valorization, and the creation of sustainable innovation ecosystems. Particular emphasis was placed on collaboration models that facilitate more effective knowledge and technology transfer, as well as on mechanisms that foster innovation development and commercialization.

The experiences and recommendations gathered during the visit will serve as a foundation for improving policies and support instruments in the areas of technology transfer, research commercialization, and the further strengthening of cooperation between science and industry in Serbia.
