Representatives of CIPS, the European Digital Innovation Hub in Serbia, whose partners include NALED, participated in the EDIH Summit 2026 held in Brussels on 9–10 June. As the largest annual gathering of the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) Network, the Summit brought together representatives of EDIHs across Europe, European Union institutions, companies, public sector organizations, and innovation stakeholders to discuss how to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public administrations with easier access to expertise, infrastructure, and support for the adoption of artificial intelligence.
Over the course of two days, participants discussed the role of the EDIH Network within the European AI ecosystem, cooperation with AI Factories, Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs), Regulatory Sandboxes, the AI-on-Demand Platform, and the Enterprise Europe Network, as well as the future development of the network in line with the evolving needs of businesses and the public sector.
During the Summit, CIPS actively participated in expert sessions, bilateral meetings, and workshops dedicated to the future of the European innovation ecosystem. One of these was the workshop “New EDIH Frontiers: From Capabilities to Collaboration in Associated Countries,” focused on strengthening cooperation between EDIHs from associated countries and the broader European EDIH Network. At the workshop, CIPS, together with the Science Technology Park Belgrade as the consortium coordinator, presented its experience and opportunities for future collaboration.
The Summit demonstrated that the EDIH Network has become a strong and recognized partner within the European AI ecosystem. Having delivered nearly 100,000 services, supported almost 50,000 SMEs, and engaged more than 5,600 public sector organizations, EDIHs are playing an increasingly important role in Europe’s digital transformation. As a member of this network, CIPS contributes to the development of Serbia’s innovation ecosystem by supporting SMEs, startups, and public institutions. Through CIPS, Serbia actively participates in these processes, building partnerships and creating new opportunities for innovation development, knowledge exchange, and the digital transformation of the domestic economy and public sector.
It is worth noting that the Capital Innovation Point Serbia (CIPS) project is implemented in cooperation with the Science Technology Park Belgrade as the project coordinator, together with partners NALED, Science Technology Park Novi Sad, DCT – Data Cloud Technology, and the Faculty of Technical Sciences of the University of Novi Sad, as well as associated partners, the School of Electrical Engineering, University of Belgrade, and the Institute of Physics Belgrade.
