FIDIC training held to strengthen capacity in waste management

As part of the project "Support to the Project Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Environmental Protection within the Solid Waste Program in Serbia," implemented by Aspiro and NALED in consortium, with the support of Dvoper, a two-day FIDIC training – Advanced Level in Contract Management and Administration was organized in cooperation with ACES for representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The training gathered participants who, through an intensive program, acquired advanced knowledge of key aspects of FIDIC contracts, including contract documentation, financial control, continuous supervision, dispute resolution, and project handover and completion.

Participants successfully completed the training by passing a final test, further strengthening capacities for infrastructure project implementation and waste management.

The Solid Waste Program is financed through loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the French Development Agency (AFD). It includes the establishment and improvement of seven regional waste management centers in Serbia: Kalenić (Ub), Banjica (Nova Varoš), Srem-Mačva (Sremska Mitrovica), Rančevo (Sombor), Duboko (Užice – upgrade), Pirot (Pirot – upgrade), and Raška (in the preparation phase).

The Waste Management Program of the Republic of Serbia for the period 2022–2031, adopted on January 28, 2022, provides the framework and conditions for the establishment and development of an integrated waste management system, defining a maximum of 26 regions where waste management centers need to be built.

The "Solid Waste Program in Serbia" contributes to achieving the objectives of the Waste Management Program, as well as specific Detailed Sectoral Implementation Plans (DSIP) within Negotiation Chapter 27, led by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, directly impacting the quality of life of Serbian citizens.
