As part of the "eGovernment for all" project, the Digital District team of the Office for IT and eGovernment continued its activities on the ground with visits to the municipalities of Beočin and Veliko Gradište. The goal of these visits is to encourage digital transformation at the local level and improve the quality of services that local governments provide to citizens, as well as to the economy.
In Beočin, representatives of the municipality were presented with the project, the activities and the time frame of the next steps, as well as the electronic services included in this project. The municipality is already successfully using some of the services such as the electronic identification system eGrađanin, POS terminal for electronic payment and eVrtić.
The transition to the eOffice, with connection to ePečat in the cloud, was recognized as a priority, which would enable faster and safer management of administrative procedures. Also, the need for additional support in the implementation of the eZUP system was indicated, and concrete next steps in that direction were defined during the visit. The room for improvement can be seen in the improvement of the IT infrastructure, in order to make the operation of the municipality even safer and more efficient.
- For the Municipal Administration of Beočin and its employees, this project primarily brings an incentive in the form of education and training of employees so that the services provided by the Administration to the citizens of the municipality of Beočin are efficient and adapted to faster and easier access to information, submission of cases and monitoring of the status of their processing. Although at the republican level e-Government has brought numerous benefits, it is very important that cities and municipalities keep up with the times and provide better conditions for work and communication in the digital environment because an increasing number of citizens have the need to communicate electronically - said the head of the Beočin Municipal Administration, Filip Radulović.
In Veliko Gradište, a municipality where a large number of citizens live in the diaspora, officials pointed out the need to provide those citizens with better information on how to open an account on the eGovernment Portal and use the services available to them remotely.
The president of the municipality of Veliko Gradište, Dragan Milić, emphasized the importance of participating in this project, stressing that the digitalization of local self-government represents an important step towards more modern and efficient work.
- This initiative represents a significant step towards improving our digital capacities and enables us to provide more efficient and modern electronic services to our citizens. Our municipality will receive professional and technical support that will help us modernize administrative processes and make them accessible to everyone, regardless of where they are. In a rapidly changing world, it is important that we do not stop at current achievements, but that we continuously work to improve our services. Our vision is for Veliko Gradište to become an example of good practice in the digitization of local government. This opportunity will contribute not only to the improvement of the quality of life, but also to the strengthening of the local economic development of our municipality - said Milić.
It was agreed that the Office for IT and eGovernment will continue to provide professional and technical support in all phases of introducing electronic services and strengthening the capacities of local self-governments.
The "eGovernment for All" project is implemented by the Office for IT and eGovernment, the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, NALED and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Within the project, ten cities and municipalities across Serbia - Beočin, Bela Palanka, Čačak, Despotovac, Ćuprija, Kragujevac, Niš, Pirot, Veliko Gradište and Vranje - are receiving support in the process of digital transformation and modernization of public services.
