Handicrafts from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina reached Japan

The products created as part of the "Together for Cultural Tourism" project crossed the borders of the region and reached as far as Japan - they became part of the display of the Serbian pavilion at the world exhibition ExpoOsaka 2025, which opened in April. These authentic objects, created as a combination of tradition and contemporary design, represent Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in front of a global audience, and on May 20 they will be presented live through demonstrations of traditional techniques held by the Ethno network team.

The international success was also confirmed during the exhibition opened on May 15 in the Chinese Cultural Center in Belgrade, as part of the manifestation "70 years of friendship between the people of China and Serbia - Bridges of cultural heritage", where the products from this project were shown as an example of preserving cultural heritage through cross-border cooperation.

Handicrafts created as part of the project won over the domestic audience as well, and since March of this year part of the assortment is available in the permanent exhibition and sale of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade. Thus, the handicrafts made by women from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina during the project became part of the cultural offer of the capital, accessible to tourists from all over the world.

In addition to Belgrade, from October 2024 the products are also exhibited in the premises of the Tourism Organization of Sremska Mitrovica, one of the locations where a workshop aimed at empowering women from the local community was held during the project.

As a reminder, the "Together for Cultural Tourism" project was implemented by NALED in cooperation with the Ethno Network and the Bosnian Handicrafts Organization, with the financial support of the European Union through the IPA II Cross-Border Cooperation Program Serbia - Bosnia and Herzegovina 2014-2020. The goal of the project was the socio-economic empowerment of women and the promotion of traditional handicrafts as sustainable tourism products.
