The Council for Sustainable Energy

The Council for Sustainable Energy, as a thematic working body of NALED, was established on 3rd of June 2025, within the Alliance for Property and Investments, which has been actively addressing the topic of sustainable energy development since 2021.

The establishment of the Council was formalized with the support of the Government of Sweden through the signing of a ceremonial Charter on June 3, 2025, by the Executive Director of NALED, the Head of Regional Cooperation of the Government of Sweden, and the President of the Alliance for Property and Investments.

The Council was founded by 26 founding members, and over time, this number has increased with new members. The Council includes organizations particularly interested in the green transformation of the energy sector in Serbia, coming from the private sector, local governments, the academic community, and the public sector. Their role is to encourage dialogue through this unique platform with the aim of unified advocacy for a regulatory framework and practices that will support an energy transformation enabling improved quality of life for citizens while preserving natural resources.

The Council operates with the support of a coordinator and an organizational team, in accordance with the Council's Rules of Procedure, and convenes at least three times a year. Members receive updates on the Council's activities through regular newsletters.

The Council focuses its efforts on achieving the following objectives:

  • Promoting the development and greater implementation of energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energy sources in practice.
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable energy projects.
  • Supporting the design, adoption, and implementation of policies and strategies for sustainable energy development.
  • Networking and enhancing collaboration between local governments, the business sector, civil society, and academia in the field of energy.
  • Raising awareness through public education about fair and sustainable energy solutions.
  • Creating and implementing innovative solutions and new technologies that support a fair energy transition.
  • Reducing administrative procedures and improving the efficiency of operations within the energy sector.
  • Encouraging the application of sustainable and climate-neutral solutions as a prerequisite for fostering an attractive investment environment.
  • Providing a regulatory framework to reduce negative emissions in energy-intensive industries.

The Council includes the following members: A1, Law Office Cvetković, Skoko, Jovičić, Apatin Brewery, APR (Serbian Business Registers Agency), BUS Logic, CETIN, CWP, Coca-Cola, Comtrade, Electricity Distribution of Serbia, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Heineken, Huawei, Chamber of Engineers of Serbia, Jugo-Kaolin, Real Estate Cluster, Lafarge Serbia, Port of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Metalfer, MK Group, MOL Serbia, NIS, Phillip Morris, Faculty of Law, Pulsec, SET, Telekom Serbia, WindVision and ZG Lightning SRB.
