You went to a store and didn't take the receipt or you just ordered a T-shirt via Instagram? If your answer is yes - you may have contributed to the growth of shadow economy. This kind of businesses accounts for approximately 15% of Serbia's GDP - it is stated in the national program for countering shadow economy for this and the following year. In financial terms - this is more than 6 billion USD.

The Government of Serbia presented the new National Program for Countering Shadow Economy. This program stipulates the improvement of Tax Administration's performance, the introduction of incentive measures for legal business and employment, reduction of administrative and para-fiscal burden, raising awareness about the importance of countering the shadow zone and more efficient supervision.

The state has a goal to have at least 11,000 workers and 9,000 businesses transition from the shadow zone to legal business in the following two years, thus reducing the scope of shadow economy by ca. 200 million EUR.
