NALED Presents Priorities for Faster Economic Development to President Vučić

Members of NALED’s leadership and governing bodies met today with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to present key recommendations aimed at improving the competitiveness of the economy, enhancing the business environment, and increasing the efficiency of public administration.

The meeting focused on concrete steps in the areas of property rights and investments, environmental protection, and healthcare. Participants agreed that stronger cooperation between state institutions, local governments, and NALED can accelerate reforms that deliver tangible benefits to both citizens and businesses.

Through focused efforts by the competent authorities, it is possible to establish the first municipality with fully legalized properties in the Balkans and demonstrate that Serbia can become a country where property rights issues are fully resolved. In addition, by eliminating unnecessary permits and digitalizing remaining procedures, Serbia can build a paperless administration by 2030.

The development of a deposit return system for packaging waste can encourage citizens to participate in waste separation and help achieve higher recycling rates.

A systematic acceleration of procedures for obtaining permits for the import of raw materials is necessary to ensure uninterrupted production in the export-oriented food industry. Further improvements to mechanisms facilitating cross-border trade would also contribute to this goal.

Healthcare was another key topic of discussion, particularly the need for stronger integration between the public and private sectors to ensure more efficient use of healthcare system capacities and faster access to services for citizens. NALED also highlighted the importance of expediting procedures related to the marketing authorization of medicines while maintaining all quality and safety standards, as well as continuing the implementation of electronic healthcare services such as e-Sick Leave (eBolovanje), e-Prescriptions (eRecept), and e-Health Records (eKarton).

President Vučić described the meeting as useful and substantive, focused on concrete measures to improve the efficiency of the state and the quality of services provided to citizens and businesses. He emphasized that Serbia will continue to support initiatives that strengthen institutions, enhance economic competitiveness, and deliver tangible results.

NALED will continue its cooperation with state institutions, the Government of Serbia, cities, and municipalities in implementing reforms that contribute to a more modern, efficient, and accountable public administration, a more favorable business environment, and a higher quality of life for citizens.
