Digital transformation at the local level: The team of the Office for IT and eGovernment visiting Niš and Despotovac

Within the project "eGovernment for all", the team of the Digital District of the Office for IT and eGovernment continued its activities in the field with visits to Niš and Despotovac. The goal of these visits is to encourage digital transformation at the local level and improve the quality of services that local governments provide to citizens, as well as to the economy.

During the meeting, representatives of the city of Niš were presented with the project, the time frame of the next activities and all the services included in this program. Niš already successfully implements certain systems such as eZUP and the application for electronic identification of citizens.

Officials in Niš expressed their interest in further improvement of digital capacities, primarily through the transition to the state software of the Office, the introduction of eSeals in the cloud, as well as the creation of new electronic services on the eGovernment Portal. The importance of infrastructure modernization was particularly emphasized - from the improvement of the City's official web presentation, to the safe storage of data in the State Data Center in Kragujevac.

"As part of the national project "eGovernment for all", it will be possible to significantly improve the digital services that the City of Niš provides to citizens and the economy. We expect that professional and technical support, as well as the introduction of modern eServices and tools, will contribute to more efficient work of city administrations and greater transparency. We see cooperation with partners on the project as an opportunity for further modernization, strengthening of employee capacities and stronger positioning of Niš in the field of digital transformation", said the head of the City Administration for Local Economic Development and Investments of the City of Niš, Dragan Nenadov-Stanković.

The municipality of Despotovac is extremely committed to the digitization of its business and is already a major user of services such as Pisarnica, ePečat, eID and eSanduce. They need the support of the Digital District team to improve the infrastructure in terms of web presentation and hosting, as well as introducing a system for communicating with citizens. Officials specifically stated that their goal is to offer digital services to smaller, more difficult-to-reach local offices.

It was agreed that the Office for IT and eGovernment will continue to provide professional and technical support in all phases of introducing electronic services and strengthening the capacities of local self-governments.

The "eGovernment for All" project is implemented by the Office for IT and eGovernment, the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, NALED and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Within the project, ten cities and municipalities across Serbia - Beočin, Bela Palanka, Čačak, Despotovac, Ćuprija, Kragujevac, Niš, Pirot, Veliko Gradište and Vranje - are receiving support in the process of digital transformation and modernization of public services.
