In the next two years, strengthening information security, specifically protection from cyberattacks and data security in the public and private sectors, as well as the further development of digital services for citizens and businesses, will be the top priorities of NALED's eGovernment Alliance. The introduction of cashless payment for all public services, including taxes, fees, and other financial charges, has also been included among the strategic goals.
Among the Alliance's priorities is continuing to provide active support to the government in enhancing the readiness of officials and citizens to offer and use eServices, especially at the local level, as well as establishing modern digital infrastructure throughout the country and introducing a digital wallet. The members also voted for the creation of conditions for the systemic application of artificial intelligence to improve public services and business operations, safeguarding government applications and data in the national cloud, and developing and implementing the smart cities concept in Serbia.
The Minister for Information and Telecommunications, Dejan Ristić, reminded that his ministry, in cooperation with the Office for Information Technologies and eGovernment, recently launched a new electronic service — eSeal in the cloud.
This is a very important step in the further digitalization of public administration operations and the faster and more efficient delivery of services to citizens and businesses. The results of international reports rank us as a regional leader in the field of digital transformation. According to the international Network Readiness Index, we have jumped eight places and are now in 47th place out of 133 countries, far ahead of countries in the region. The Global Information Security Index of the International Telecommunication Union has placed Serbia in the first, highest category, marking it as a "model country." I expect this to be further improved by adopting the new Information Security Law and amendments to the Law on Electronic Documents, Identification, and Trust Services in Electronic Business, which should pave the way for the introduction of a digital wallet in the next two years and greater protection of citizens' personal data, said Minister Ristić.
He emphasized that the continuation of the broadband communication infrastructure project in rural areas will remain high on the ministry's priority list, and in the next two years, its expansion to 200 new settlements is planned. The Ministry can count on the support of NALED, said the President of the eGovernment Alliance, Dragana Ilić.
We expect to continue our excellent cooperation with the Ministry in strengthening regulation, especially in the areas of information security and electronic communications. We are encouraged by the active work being done to enable all preconditions for the successful introduction of the 5G network in Serbia. Our main activities remain unchanged — a transparent, unified procedure for setting up base stations that will be applied throughout Serbia. This will provide a solid foundation for the development of new eServices, which will also be promoted as part of the specialized Expo 2027 exhibition.
Ilić also highlighted the importance of the new Action Plan for the Development of Electronic Communications in Serbia until 2027, and the Action Plan for the Development of the Information Society and Information Security until 2026.
New Leadership
The eGovernment Alliance will be led in the next two years by its current president, Dragana Ilić, Director of Corporate Affairs at CETIN. Ivan Živković, Sales Manager for Serbia and North Macedonia at Microsoft, has been re-elected as vice president of the Alliance. The Alliance members also elected new vice presidents, including Snežana Sofijanić, Senior Manager for Government Relations in Southeastern Europe at VISA, Bojan Pavlović, a member of the Executive Board for Operations and Business Support at AIK Bank, and Tanja Vukotić-Marinković from the Business Registers Agency (APR).
