Strengthening Public Private Dialogue

Project implementation period: 28/11/2017 – 28/11/2021


The four-year Public Private Dialogue for Growth Project is funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) in cooperation with the National Public Policy Secretariat. The project supports the development of effective and sustainable communication between the state, businesses and the civil society.

The goal of this project is to improve the business environment in Serbia by strengthening the capacities and skills of the private and public sector for better mutual understanding and communication, raising awareness about the necessity of public-private dialogue and improvement of all forms of dialogue and active cooperation between the public institutions, businesses and civil society organizations.

The key activities and expected results in the period 2018-2021:

  • Strengthening the capacities for public private dialogue in state institutions and six selected business associations or civil society organizations
  • Support in advocacy and implementation of six selected reforms for improving the business environment
  • Development of the first guide, online training programs, models and tools for public private dialogue
  • Establishing a PPD Hub as the focal point for public private dialogue

Within the project, a total of six selected business associations or civil society organizations which will work on their nominated topics, and simultaneously work on improving their skills and capacities, gain significant practical experience and establish partnerships with public sector representatives (ministries and other Government institutions, National Parliament, local governments) and other private organizations (non-government organizations, think tanks, business associations and others), which will act as their partners in improving the business environment.

Three business associations to receive support for public private dialogue have been selected in the first year of the project, along with the three priority reform topics to be jointly dealt with by the state and the business community:
