NALED Executive Director Violeta Jovanović and members of NALED's Environment Protection Alliance met today with Minister Irena Vujović to present the organization's priorities in this area and discuss models for future cooperation.
The Alliance is actively working to regulate the flow of food waste, glass packaging and e-waste, increase the recycling rate of batteries and light bulbs and introduce a circular economy model.
Based on the project results, NALED presented the proposals for establishing a sustainable packaging waste collection and recycling system and initiated the joint development of two studies on packaging management and the introduction of a deposit system.
The meeting participants also exchanged views on regulating the system of fees, supporting local governments and the concept of circular economy as one of the common priorities of both the Government and NALED.
The Minister stated that the focus of her department in 2021 will be the construction of wastewater treatment facilities, projects for air pollution mitigation, waste management and construction of new regional centers, as well as amendments to certain laws where NALED's professional assistance will be of special importance.
