NALED, together with its Property and Investment Alliance, is ready to welcome the new Government with a set of thoroughly elaborated recommendations aimed at improving the business environment. These include the need to launch a comprehensive campaign to resolve property-legal issues related to real estate, addressing the backlog of cases in the real estate cadastre, advancing legalization processes, and ensuring a more efficient and transparent spatial and urban planning system, it was announced at the last session of the working body, held at the Zumtobel company.
Members also expressed interest in topics such as resolving property rights issues, mortgages, pledges, completing the registry of public sector real estate assets, and enhancing sustainable energy development, among others.
- We are pleased to announce the plans for establishing the Council for Sustainable Energy Development, the recent formation of the Council for Small Business, and the launch of an initiative to strengthen the role of research organizations within NALED's structure. Innovations are key to competitiveness in a knowledge-based economy, and the OECD estimates that 50-60% of global productivity growth should come from innovation. I believe that’s an especially strong message to send from a company like Zumtobel, which has a strong production and research center in Serbia, said Dušan Vasiljević, Director for Competitiveness and Investments at NALED, during the opening of the session.
The attendees were also welcomed by Alfred Felder, CEO of Zumtobel Group. NALED and Zumtobel have launched a joint initiative to replace fluorescent lighting in public institutions, as all products containing mercury will soon be phased out from the market. However, energy-inefficient fluorescent tubes are still widely used in many public facilities, and the replacement with LED lighting is progressing slowly.
During the session, members of the Alliance were given exclusive insight into the first results of NALED’s annual report on the issuance of construction permits, which show that the number of permits issued has remained at the same level as two years ago. Among the ten cities that have improved their performance, seven are NALED members, and four are also part of the BFC Club.
Marko Jović, President of the Property and Investment Alliance and Director of Regulatory and Wholesale Affairs at A1 Serbia, pointed out that the large number of member companies present demonstrates strong interest in the topic of construction permits, and that sharing experiences can help better understand the challenges companies face.
To foster better dialogue with local governments on the topic of construction permits, members of the BFC Club also attended the session. The president of this body and Mayor of Šabac, Aleksandar Pajić, stated that he is proud of his city's positive results.
