The eGovernment Day was held today in Beočin as part of the project “eGovernment for All”, with the aim of bringing the possibilities and benefits of using electronic services closer to citizens.
Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment Mihailo Jovanović, Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Fabricio Andreuci, NALED Executive Director Violeta Jovanović, and the President of the Municipality of Beočin Biljana Janković visited the promotional stand and spoke with citizens.
Jovanović pointed out that a series of activities had been implemented to improve the digital capacities and services of the Municipality of Beočin, with the goal of increasing the efficiency of the municipal administration.
He emphasized that citizens of Beočin are successfully using services such as eInbox, eKindergarten, and eID, while municipal employees have undergone training for the use of software solutions such as eSick Leave–Employer, ePay, and the electronic registry office system, creating conditions for more efficient and fully electronic administrative procedures.
According to him, more than 19,000 data exchanges have so far been carried out through the system for official data exchange (eZUP), meaning that citizens did not have to collect documentation or visit service counters that many times, as municipal administration employees completed these procedures on their behalf.
In addition, he noted that citizens in this municipality have scheduled more than 5,000 appointments for issuing ID cards or passports.
Jovanović also announced that cooperation with the Municipality of Beočin will continue in the coming period, focusing on further promotion of electronic services and increasing the number of eCitizens.
Andreuci said that UNDP will cooperate with the Municipality of Beočin on redesigning existing electronic services and developing new ones, ensuring that they benefit all citizens.
“Together with our partners, we support the development of modern and inclusive public services in ten local self-governments across Serbia, enabling them to harness the benefits of digital transformation for local development,” Andreuci said.
Violeta Jovanović stated that through the initiatives “Digital Caravan” and “eGovernment for All”, implemented by NALED in cooperation with partners – the Office for IT and eGovernment, UNDP, and the World Bank – systematic support is being provided to cities and municipalities to strengthen employees’ knowledge, improve the use of electronic services, and enhance administrative procedures.
She emphasized that direct cooperation with the Office for IT and eGovernment first provided Beočin with high-quality and efficient training for civil servants, followed by improved accessibility of the system for citizens.
As she highlighted, it is very important for smaller communities to keep pace with large cities, especially when it comes to services of this kind, as digitalization brings significant benefits.
Janković said that citizens no longer have to waste time at service counters when they want to obtain extracts from civil registries, various certificates, or schedule appointments for document issuance.
“It is important that we also have an info day, when all citizens can come, ask questions, and receive user support when opening their accounts. More than a thousand electronic services are available on the eGovernment portal, so time, education, and information are needed for the entire process to become successful and widely used,” she explained.
The eGovernment Day was jointly launched by the Office for IT and eGovernment, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, UNDP, NALED, the Digital District, and the World Bank, with the aim of making electronic government accessible to everyone, regardless of the size and capacities of local self-governments.
This initiative represents a unique opportunity for local governments to improve their services, optimize processes, and become recognized drivers of digital transformation for the benefit of citizens and the economy.
